Joe Scanlin

Joe Scanlin is Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Scanalytics, Inc., a pioneering Internet of Things company that blends sensor fusion, embedded systems, and data analytics to transform physical environments into responsive, intelligent spaces.

Under Joe’s leadership, Scanalytics has innovated smart-floor and ceiling sensor platforms that capture fine-grained spatial and behavioral data, enabling clients in commercial real estate, smart buildings, healthcare, retail, and industrial settings to optimize space utilization, energy efficiency, occupant experience, and safety.

Before founding Scanalytics, Joe’s academic interests spanned organizational behavior, applied neuroscience, and computational systems. He is also a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He holds multiple patents and has published works in spatial science, sensor design, and natural language processing.

Joe is actively engaged in the broader tech and innovation ecosystem. He sits on boards across AI, computer vision, and medical device ventures, and co-founded On Spatial Science, a nonprofit based in Chicago aiming to advance smart building and urban intelligence adoption.

He is also a frequent public speaker on the convergence of the physical and digital worlds, for example presenting at Georgia Tech’s R&D Manufacturing Consortium on AI and manufacturing, and delivering a TEDx talk titled “The Implications of Responsive Physical Environments.”

Outside of work, Joe is an accomplished endurance athlete (triathlon), practices jiu-jitsu, and has a passion for motorsports. He is also committed to family life; his role as father is among his greatest pride.
